In His Time

Stoke the Spirit (Reflection):

There are seasons when we feel stuck—praying, hoping, waiting. We might question God’s silence or wonder why things haven’t moved forward. But Scripture reminds us: everything has its season. God is never late, and He’s never early. His timing is rooted in wisdom and love, even when we don’t understand it.

Look at the life of Joseph. God gave him dreams of leadership, but before those dreams came to pass, Joseph was betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and forgotten in prison. It seemed like everything was working against him. But behind the scenes, God was working through it all. When God’s appointed time came, Joseph was raised up in power and used to save a nation—and his own family.

I saw this in my own life too. For years, I felt stuck in my career and my identity—trapped in a mindset that I had to live up to others’ expectations, especially in the town I grew up in. I was trying to be someone based on what I thought others wanted. I sold myself out to those expectations, and to the false identity I believed I had to live up to. It was my own insecurity that sold me out—just like Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery.

I chased paths that I thought would give me worth—going to college to be an architect, owning a business, contemplating the possibilty attending ministry school—but every one of them ended up feeling like another prison. One day, I looked around and asked, How did I get here? I was caught in the very prison my own thoughts and fears had built. Am I ever going to get out of this?

But just like Joseph, I had to learn to wait patiently on God. It wasn’t about doing more or trying harder—it was about surrender, letting go. And in time, God revealed who I was as a man, not just what I was supposed to do. Work was still important, but identity came first. God’s timing brought clarity, freedom, and purpose I couldn’t have created on my own.

Fireside Thoughts (Devotional Insight):

You can’t rush what God isn’t ready to release. But when His timing comes, nothing and no one can hold it back. He opens doors that no man can shut and moves in ways we could never manufacture on our own. What feels like delay is often divine preparation.

God’s love isn’t just at the finish line—it’s with you in the waiting. He’s shaping you, strengthening you, and leading you even when the path ahead feels uncertain. Trust His pace. Let His love be your compass.

Are you trying to force something before its time? Lay it down today. Ask God to help you recognize His pace and release the pressure to perform. Surrender control, and trust His process.

Take five minutes of silence today—no music, no phone, no distractions. Ask God to speak. Journal what comes to mind. Is there something He’s asking you to wait on? Or a door He’s preparing to open? Listen and write it down.
